Wrapped birthday gifts with ribbons on a table

September 9, 2026 · Amara Osei, Design Director

Anyone can buy a candle. The gifts guests keep for years are the ones that could only have come from your party. Here is how our stylists think about birthday gifting.

Match the gift to a moment. A tiny bottle of the evening's signature cocktail, a photo from the photo booth in a stamped frame, a playlist card with a QR code — each one replays a moment from the night.

Make one thing by hand. It does not need to be fancy: hand-poured truffles, a small jar of the birthday person's famous spice mix, a handwritten note. One handmade element outshines a bag of fillers.

Wrap like you mean it. Kraft paper, real ribbon, a sprig of olive or dried lavender. Guests decide whether to keep a gift in the first three seconds — wrapping is the decision.

Gift the group, not just the guest. A polaroid wall everyone signs, a communal recipe card, a group toast recorded on video — shared keepsakes get shared again.
